Hearing aids improve speech clarity up to 40% compared to other hearing aid technology, making it easier to follow conversations in quiet settings and noisy environments without constantly asking others to repeat themselves.
Research shows untreated hearing loss is linked to increased COGNITIVE decline and DEMENTIA risk. Treating hearing loss helps keep the brain stimulated and engaged, supporting long-term brain health.
Hearing plays an important role in spatial awareness. Wearing hearing aids has been shown to reduce fall risk and improve awareness of your surroundings.
Hearing aids make it easier to stay involved in conversations with family and friends, reducing isolation, frustration, and withdrawal from social situations.
When hearing becomes easier, daily interactions feel less stressful. Many people report increased confidence, improved mood, and greater enjoyment of everyday activities.

Hearing loss can develop for many reasons and often occurs gradually over time. Common causes include natural aging (Presbycusis), long-term exposure to loud noises, genetics, certain medical conditions, medications (Ototoxicity), and ear health issues. In many cases, hearing loss is the result of multiple factors working together, which is why a professional evaluation is important to understand what’s happening and determine the most appropriate next steps.
For most adults, a hearing evaluation every 1–2 years is recommended, as hearing can change gradually over time. You should schedule an evaluation sooner if you notice changes in clarity, increased difficulty following conversations, ringing in the ears, or concerns from family members.
If you are 50 years or older, it’s recommended to establish a baseline hearing evaluation every two years, even if you don’t believe you have a hearing loss. If a hearing loss is present, annual hearing evaluations are advised to monitor changes and ensure proper treatment. Regular hearing checks allow changes to be identified early and help support long-term hearing and brain health. Especially if you are currently wearing older hearing aids (3 years or more).
If you’re asking this question, it’s often a sign that a hearing evaluation is a good idea.
If you're noticing yourself asking people to repeat themselves, having trouble following conversations in noisy environments, or finding yourself turning the TV or phone volume up higher than others prefer, these may be signs of hearing changes. You might also notice increased listening fatigue or difficulty understanding certain voices. A hearing test provides clear insight into what you’re experiencing and helps determine whether treatment would be beneficial.
That’s a great question. There are two things to consider: hearing loss and clarity loss. While your hearing loss may feel mild, clarity loss is often the bigger concern.
Clarity loss is caused by auditory deprivation, which occurs when the brain doesn’t receive clear sound for extended periods of time. Even if your hearing levels don’t significantly worsen, the brain’s ability to process speech can decline, making words harder to understand. Over time, this loss of clarity can become permanent. For example, speech understanding that may be around 92% today could drop to 72% if hearing loss goes untreated — and that lost clarity may not be fully regained later.
Procrastination is the biggest risk, even with mild hearing loss. Untreated hearing loss can make conversations more exhausting, cause you to miss important details, and lead to frustration or social withdrawal. An early hearing evaluation helps preserve clarity, supports brain health, and allows you to take a proactive approach to protecting your hearing and overall quality of life.
OTC hearing aids are designed as one-size-fits-most devices and are NOT based on a professional diagnosis. Prescribed hearing aids are customized using advanced testing, real-ear measurements, and professional programming to match your exact hearing loss. That level of precision is not possible with OTC devices.
In many cases, yes. About 90% of people with tinnitus also have hearing loss, and treating hearing loss often reduces tinnitus symptoms.
Modern hearing aids are designed to be discreet, lightweight, and comfortable. Many styles sit behind the ear or inside the ear canal and are barely noticeable during everyday interactions. They’re available in natural skin tones and low-profile designs that blend in seamlessly, allowing you to hear clearly without drawing attention to the device. You could be wearing your hearing aids for 6 months to a year before anyone notices you are wearing a hearing aid (unless you tell them). And! Untreated hearing loss is much more noticeable than wearing a hearing aid.
Follow-up care is an essential part of successful hearing treatment. Your care includes scheduled follow-up appointments, fine-tuning adjustments to improve comfort and clarity, and ongoing support as your hearing needs change. We take the time to ensure your hearing aids continue to perform well in real-life situations, not just on day one, so you feel confident and supported long-term.
